Fountain Youth Initiative

Amidst a busy fall, I was presented with an opportunity I cannot pass up:

In October, I will be traveling to Nairobi, Kenya, in partnership with Photographers Without Borders to photograph a project for Fountain Youth Initiative; an organization whose mission is to assist marginalized youths and young adults by helping them succeed in education and acquire fundamental skills needed to secure employment, as well as address social challenges in their communities. I’ve been yearning for a project like this for quite some time, and I am incredibly humbled to have been offered this opportunity. However, due to the organization having little to no funding, I will be responsible for all of my travel expenses, in addition to the $2,289 program fee which is due within the next 30 days.

As many of you know, this isn’t my first rodeo in volunteering internationally, and I struggle in asking for monetary support because of this. In addition to the cookie cutter, pat-yourself on the back for supporting a cause crowd-fund, I will be opening up a print store within the next few hours, and I will be offering discounted sessions through August 31st to anyone that is interested in supporting this endeavor. If you're reading this, it is likely that you live in a privileged world, and I am completely aware that sometimes we need tangibility associated with spending. I want to work for this trip, so please don't hesitate in putting me to work.

Prints will start at $50, and sessions will start at $200 (regularly priced at $375.) If you’re wanting to buy a specific photo of mine, let me know which one and I will add it to the store once it's up and running.

I can never express enough gratitude for those of you who have continued to support me in what I do. Freelancing has’t always been easy. It can cause debilitating stress and self-doubt. Nothing is ever concrete. But in that, I have found liberation, opportunity and life-experiences that have shaped me into the person and artist I am today. So to every friend or family member that has ever supported me, thank you.

Below is the link to the fundraising page set up by Photographers Without Borders. Feel free to message me if you have any additional questions on the charity or how you can get involved.

Thank you,

Arielle

I don’t love you as if you were a rose of salt, topaz,
or arrow of carnations that propagate fire:
I love you as one loves certain obscure things,
secretly, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that doesn’t bloom but carries
the light of those flowers, hidden, within itself,
and thanks to your love the tight aroma that arose
from the earth lives dimly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you directly without problems or pride:
I love you like this because I don’t know any other way to love,
except in this form in which I am not nor are you,
so close that your hand upon my chest is mine,
so close that your eyes close with my dreams.

2017 Year In Review

Wedding photography has taken me to a handful of new and wonderful places over the past twelve months, and it only seemed fair that I share some of my favorite images as I begin to wrap up my sophomore season. From a fairy-tale castle in Europe to the golden, heart-stealing sunshine of San Francisco, this year has been spent in-transit and I have never loved my job more. I am incredibly grateful for every opportunity I have had to develop my craft, and I am equally as grateful for the wonderful clients, family, and friends who continue to trust me to do this job. I sincerely hope that I can continue to travel, document and grow in 2018, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what next year has in store.
