A wonderful friend of mine lent me his Nikon F5 and gave me some film to shoot while in Greece, and it completely changed me as a photographer. On the way home from Lesvos, I was able to spend 24 hours in Athens, and made it a point to shoot film all day. These best thing about shooting film is that it allows you to slow down immensely. Instead of taking 150-200 photos to only filter out 30 that I like, I shoot 36 carefully, thought out frames. It forces you to think harder than you would using digital, and for me, it allows me to connect deeper with each person I shoot. When I came home and got the scans back, I was so emotionally connected to each frame. Here are some of my favorites from Athens.
